More Accountability Needed to Curb Smash-and-Grab Crimes

Today, the Governor increased CHP support to assist Los Angeles in addressing organized retail theft. Republican Assemblyman Vince Fong issued the following statement:

“The California Highway Patrol and local law enforcement are doing tremendous work to keep us safe.

“Because of the soft on crime policies coming out of Sacramento, smash-and-grab crimes and organized retail theft continue to terrorize residents and businesses.

“These horrifying crimes are a direct result of the lack of accountability and consequences allowing criminal activity to run rampant.

“The Governor needs to exercise the political will to change the laws that allow criminal behavior to go unpunished. We need to side with law-abiding citizens and law enforcement, not criminals. Californians deserve to feel safe in our communities.”
