More Funding for Storage and Infrastructure is Needed to Prevent Flooding and Capture Rain

California Must Continue to Prepare for the Future

Today, the Governor announced the increase of water allocations to 75% and amendments to his 2021 emergency drought proclamation. Vice Chair of the Assembly Budget Committee Vince Fong (R-Central Valley) issued the following statement:

“For months, we have called for moving more water across California to communities in need. More restrictions must be removed to maximize water supplies to Californians.”

“While we have had tremendous rain and snowpack at this moment, California is one dry year away from being in the same crisis situation we have just persevered through.

“It is time for the Governor to prioritize funding for water storage, conveyance and other necessary water infrastructure, while also expediting much needed flood protection to safeguard our communities in the future.

“It’s time to put California on a path to stable and reliable water supplies for our homes, farms, and businesses.”
