Today, the Internal Revenue Service determined that Middle-Class Tax Refund payment is not reportable after Assembly and Senate Republicans sent a letter to the President calling for the exemption. Vice Chair of the Assembly Budget Committee, Assemblyman Vince Fong (R-Central Valley) issued the following statement:
“During these hard times of record-high inflation, Californians should not have to shoulder any additional confusion or surprises with tax season looming while still facing inflationary pressures in their everyday lives.
“The IRS made the proper determination – that these payments are not taxable.
“This is welcome news and will provide relief and clarity to hard working families.”
