Seeing the need to modernize and upgrade Ridgecrest’s aging wastewater treatment plant, Assemblyman Vince Fong secured $2.5 million of state funding to bring the 1960’s facility up to code. The upgraded treatment facility will better serve residents of the City of Ridgecrest and Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake.

“This critical infrastructure supports the Ridgecrest community,” said Assemblyman Vince Fong (R-Kern County). “A new wastewater treatment plant will help accommodate growth and address a vital need in the Indian Wells Valley.”

Ridgecrest Mayor Eric Bruen said, “We are grateful to Assemblymember Fong for his hard work on behalf of our community. These resources will help keep construction on schedule, allowing us to get the new facility up and running.”

This funding will contribute to construction activities related to the City of Ridgecrest’s new wastewater treatment facility. Ridgecrest’s current wastewater treatment plant serves both the City and Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake and after 77 years, it needs replacement.
